COSMETIC VENEERS

Dental veneers are cosmetic restorations that transform the appearance of your healthy smile. By bonding these thin porcelain shells over the front of your most visible teeth, we can help your smile look whiter and straighter in just a couple of visits. Depending on your specific smile, most of our Delaware cosmetic patients request anywhere from 6-10 veneers for their upper front teeth.

Investing in dental veneers can help boost your confidence and improve your quality of life. When you feel proud about the way your teeth look, you’ll be more likely to smile during that next job interview, laugh around friends, and make a great impression wherever you go.

About Our Delaware Dental Veneers

Although our Delaware dentists offer several types of dental veneers, we primarily recommend porcelain veneers for your smile makeover. Porcelain offers many advantages over other types of aesthetic materials. It’s both highly durable as well as attractive, offering a slightly translucent hue that mirrors natural tooth enamel.

Each of our porcelain dental veneers is uniquely shaded and contoured in such a way that they create your preferred smile. From the exact color to the shape of every tooth, you’ll be able to completely transform the way your entire smile looks.

Because porcelain does not discolor, your new dental veneers will maintain their brightness for several years. Superficial stains from things like coffee or red wine can be polished away during your dental cleaning.

The Dental Veneers Process

Phase I: The Consult

Every smile makeover begins with an exam and consultation with our Delaware cosmetic dentists. During this visit, we will determine your smile goals and discuss the best options for meeting your unique preferences. If dental veneers are best for you, we’ll determine the total number of veneers required and work up a care plan for you to consider.

Phase II: Preparations

When you’re ready to begin treatment, we’ll reserve a time for you to return to our office for the “preparation” phase of your veneer process. During this visit, we will slightly adjust the thickness of each tooth and take a series of 3D digital scans for our lab. This eliminates the need for messy, uncomfortable dental impressions and efficiently transfers your 3D models to our lab.

NOTE: Occasionally, we will also have you return for a “try-in” or “mock-up” appointment. This extra step allows you to try on a set of temporary wax veneers with the proposed design. That way, you can make any final adjustments before the permanent veneers are delivered.

Phase III: Final Placement

About two weeks after your preparation visit, your permanent dental veneers will be ready to install. We will remove the temporary veneers and use a special bonding agent to attach each porcelain veneer to its respective tooth. From the moment your visit is complete, you’ll have a totally new smile to enjoy.

Who is a Candidate for Dental Veneers?

Veneers are specifically designed for aesthetic purposes. Unlike fillings or crowns, which are used to repair damaged teeth, veneers are meant for healthy smiles. We’ll want to screen for areas of decay or gum disease prior to placing any veneers on your smile.

Investing in dental veneers allows you to quickly erase the signs of cosmetic issues like:

  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Moderate tooth crowding
  • Uneven or misshaped teeth
  • Severe internal dental staining

Dental veneers are only for our adult patients; teens with developing third molars will need to wait until their smiles are fully developed before investing in a permanent cosmetic treatment.

If you have areas of decay or broken teeth, our Delaware, OH dentists may recommend alternatives like zirconia crowns or composite restorations in lieu of dental veneers.

How to Care for Dental Veneers

It’s extremely important to care for your veneers properly to prolong their lifespan. We recommend sleeping in a protective nightguard to prevent any unnecessary chipping due to teeth grinding or clenching. You’ll also want to brush and floss around each veneer daily and schedule regular checkups and cleanings. Because veneers only cover the front of each tooth, it’s important to remove any food debris or plaque between and around those teeth each day. We recommend using non-abrasive toothpaste.

Prefer Sedation During Your Makeover?

Smile Center Ohio offers in-house dental sedation upon request. If you prefer to have sedation during your smile makeover, we can arrange to do so. We also have comfort amenities like ceiling-mounted televisions and noise-cancelling headphones, making it easy for you to relax throughout your smile makeover.
